What a delivery job involves
Most deliveries run from a few days along the coast to three or four weeks for an ocean crossing. The skipper plans the passage, checks the boat and its safety gear before departure, keeps the logbook and hands the yacht over in good condition. Crew stand watches, help with sail handling, cooking and maintenance on the way.
What you need
- ✓Skipper: a recognised certificate of competence (for example RYA Yachtmaster Offshore or Ocean, or an equivalent national licence), plus commercial endorsement where the flag requires it
- ✓Crew: STCW Basic Safety Training is increasingly expected, plus relevant sea miles
- ✓A VHF/SRC radio licence and first aid are common requirements for skippers
- ✓A logbook or references that show passages similar to the one advertised
How deliveries are paid on Maritime Delivery
Every assignment shows the day rate or fixed fee, the dates and — line by line — who pays flights, local transport, food and accommodation. The client pays up front through Stripe before the trip; you receive 100% of the agreed pay when both sides confirm the delivery is done.
Questions
Do I pay anything to apply for delivery jobs?+
No. Creating a profile and applying is free for crew, and you keep 100% of the agreed pay. The client pays the platform fee.
Who pays my flights to the boat?+
It depends on the assignment. Each listing states whether flights, local transport, food and accommodation are paid by the client, reimbursed against receipts, or paid by you.
