Delivery skipper jobs

As a delivery skipper you are the person the owner trusts with their boat. You take command for the passage, choose the weather window, run the crew and sign the boat over at the other end. Good delivery skippers are booked again and again — reviews and a clean track record matter.

A typical delivery, start to finish

  • ✓Pre-departure check: rig, engine, safety equipment, paperwork and insurance
  • ✓Passage plan and weather routing, agreed with the owner
  • ✓Watch system, logbook and regular position updates
  • ✓Hand-over: defects list, fuel and condition report

Certificates owners look for

Most owners ask for a certificate of competence that matches the boat and the distance from shore — on sailing and motor yachts this is often RYA Yachtmaster Offshore or Ocean (commercially endorsed for paid work on many flags), or an equivalent national licence. Add your certificates once; our team verifies them, and only assignments you qualify for accept your application.

Questions

Are deliveries paid per day or per trip?+

Both exist. Listings show whether it is a day rate or a fixed fee for the passage, and in which currency.

Can I list when I am free between other contracts?+

Yes — mark your open dates in your sea calendar and clients searching for those dates can find you.
